Hand wheels are available for Linear Power Jack so that it can be easily used for manual operation. Hand wheels are used for self-lock equipped Linear Power Jacks (Machine Screw Type) only. Because Linear Power Jacks (Ball Screw Type) and Linear Power Jacks (High Lead Screw Type) are not equipped with a self-lock, the input shaft may be reversed by a load, therefore, it is dangerous to use the hand wheel. Hand wheel efficiency is determined by the required torque for a specified load and the diameter of the hand wheel. Also, vibration and shock may cause self-lock failure, in which case a brake unit is recommended. 
Hand wheels must not be mounted on the drive shaft when not operating the screw jack. Separate storage is required! Use of Screw Jacks Fitted With Emergency Stop Disc: To prevent over travel of the lead screw, a stop disc or nut can be fitted to a screw jack that is hand operated. It should not be used as a full power stop.
